We welcome most dog and cat pet guests, which will be determined by the temperament test. We reserve the right to exclude a particular pet guest if it poses a danger to other pet guests or staff or if an issue arises during a visit. Our Pet guests must be at least four months of age. They also must be in good health and not possess any communicable ailment that could harm the other Pet guests. Geriatric Pet guests are welcome if they are in good health. We require Pet guests to be spayed or neutered. We reserve the right to accept or decline non-spayed or non-neutered Pets though they will not participate in Integrated Play activities.

Dogs and cats are cared for in separate buildings. The cats are cared for in the loft above the main building and the dogs are cared for in one of the round buildings in the main part of the yard. They have no interaction. The cats are in their own condo until it is their turn for individual play with the resident staff member.

Clean facilities are important for your Pet’s safety and comfort. All runs are inspected throughout the day and spot cleaned and disinfected when needed. All the buildings are on schedules for deep cleaning and disinfecting several times a week. Upon overnight departures, each run is deep cleaned and disinfected. For very long stays they are cleaned several times during their stay.

Tailwinds Pet Resort in Phoenix offers Overnight Care and on-site Grooming for our Pet guests. We are not accepting new Day Care clients at this time.

Our Overnight rates vary based on the size of the run selected, the number of Pets in the family and whether the Pet guest(s), specifically dogs, require a temperament test for their first visit.

Grooming services for dogs would be an extra fee if they do not qualify for a free departure bath after a four night stay. Departure baths are not applicable to cats.

For Dogs

  • Group play (unless you request the Pet not participate or if the temperament test concludes the Pet is not suitable to participate)
  • Individual play, if not participating in group play (the number of play times is reduced to 2 to 3 times at least 20 minutes or more)
  • Treats (per owner consent)
  • Toys
  • Pool and water play (weather permitting). Please advise if you prefer your Pet be exempt from water play.
  • Medication administration
  • Meals – either Tailwinds or from home – Tailwinds house food is Maei.
  • Cots and lambskins
  • TV viewing featuring Pet friendly shows
  • A free departure bath is included for Pets staying 4 nights or longer (if coat condition or size of Pet is such that time and effort exceeds “normal”, you will be required to pay and additional $10). You will have to advise Tailwinds at check in if you prefer to be exempt from departure bath. Client may request Pet be groomed during their stay. If it qualified for a departure bath, a $10 discount will be applied to the groom. If Pet falls under exceeds “normal” then no discount would be applied.

For Cats

  • Treats

  • Bath or groom for additional charge.  An estimate will be provided at check-in and requested service described.

The safety and security of your Pet is one of our main priorities.  A staff member who lives in a loft on-premise is here as a personal Pet host. Our staff makes frequent personal visits to each run ensuring each Pet guest is healthy and happy during hours of operation.  Security gates and seven-foot reverse rod-iron fences also provide extra security for the well-being of your Pet during their stay.

DOGS

All dogs are carefully profiled and screened for the most comfortable participation in group play.  We match like age, size and energy level to determine which Pets will be included in particular groups when it’s time to play (Integrated Play). The Pet Profile, temperament test and personality are all taken into account in this decision-making process. If Integrated Play is not your Pet’s cup of tea, don’t fret!  Your Pet will receive Individual Play. Of course, if you prefer, your Pet does not have to participate in the Integrated Play regardless of the outcome of their temperament test.

CATS

The cats are in their own condo until it is their turn for individual play with the resident staff member. Cats take turns receiving attention from the attendant. They either get to chill on the bed, play with toys, or climb and explore the cat post.

OFFICE HOURS

Monday through Friday 7:30am to 6:30pm and Saturday & Sunday 9:00am to 4:00pm. Check in and check out for all services are only available during these times.

PET CARE HOURS

  • 6:00am to 9:00pm every day of the week – even holidays.
  • Tailwinds Pet Resort is closed on all major holidays; New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
